Tuesday, November 13, this year’s animated Disney hit Brave, will be available on Blu-Ray/DVD.
Monday, November 12, is my birthday and I have a copy of Brave to give one of my awesome readers as a present. Yes, that is the day BEFORE it goes on sale.
You’ll find all the details at the end of this post.
If you haven’t seen Brave, it needs to be at the top of your list. We watched as a family last weekend—I have two daughters in high school and a son in college still at home—and we LOVED it. It was funny, it was touching, the animation was awesome (but would we expect any less from Pixar?) and it had a great story.
Brave is set in medieval Scotland and features another adorable Disney heroine, Merida (ok, so I have a fondness for fiery redheads—are you surprised?). As the story opens Merida is a wee little lass and receives a gift of bow-and-arrow for her birthday. Not surprisingly, she becomes a proficient bow woman.
The action really begins when a more grown-up and more headstrong Merida decides to defy custom and carve her own path through life with predictably unpredictable consequences that lead to chaos in the kingdom and ultimately help her to discover the true meaning of bravery.
As demonstrated by my own viewing group, this is a Disney movie that the whole family will love.
The Ultimate Collector’s Edition (yes, that’s the one I’m giving away) is a 5-disc combo pack that includes DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D (if you have 3D, I’m envious—I’ll be the animation is incredible in 3D) and a digital copy. There are all kinds of cool bonus features including two short features, “La Luna” and “The Legend of Mordu”. There are also lots of background pieces showing how different parts of the movie were created, bloopers to make you laugh, teasers and sneak peeks. We haven’t even made it all the way through all the goodies yet.
And now, I’m sure you want to know how you can get this great present on my birthday.
Leave a comment on my blog telling about a time you were brave.

I say we are all brave everyday as we get up & face the challenges of a new day!!
btw .. happy early birthday!!
Happy Birthday to you! You are so sweet to give us the present!
I was brave when I had to give a talk in sacrament meeting on Father’s Day, less than 3 months after my dad died of cancer.
happy birthday to you!!
This past summer, My husband and I had the opportunity to be Ma & Pa on trek. I was so nervous!! I am not in the best of shape and have asthma. It took every ounce of courage within me to make it through. After walking 14 miles up and down steep hills the first day, the second day brought the greatest challenge, the women’s pull. We had already walked 3 miles uphill all morning. We then saw our “mountain”. It was a 8% grade hill for 1/3 mile. Everyone one of the YW and Ma’s showed incredible courage to pull the handcarts up that hill. It was a life changing moment for me. I learned that I CAN do hard things. I was Brave!
There have been a few times in my life where I have had to be brave, but the one that brought me the most growth is very personal. We will just say that it was the day I decided to forgive someone for a very deep hurt they had caused.
When I was in labor I had some complications and had to have an emergency c-section. We thought we were going to lose our baby. I had to be brave and strong during this scary moment in time.
YAY…I love this movie. I love it because she is a little spitfire and I love the sense of humour.
Undertaking the responsibility to educate my own kids has required bravery, and a willingness to run a bit counterculture in my area, even among other homescholars. It’s been worthwhile so far (16 years and counting), but it’s still a decision to put aside fears in an effort to give my kids a solid foundation.
I am brave any time I step out of my comfort zone, step out in faith to answer the call, to help another, to meet a need.
I think one of my bravest moments was giving birth to my first child without any drugs. The second go around, I had an epidural, which was very frightening for me and took a gobs of bravery as well. So frightening was the thought of the big needle again in fact, that I skipped it the third time and had another natural birth. Women are definitely not “the weaker sex” when it comes to being brave.
I would love to win this for my oldest! My bravest moment was giving birth to my oldest!
Yay! I loved this movie!
I was brave when I went for my veterinary school interview!! Scariest thing ever
Happy Birthday, have a great one! Great contest!

Great movie! Happy Birthday!
Every December I am brave as I’ve done something that’s been hard for me concerning Christmas. What was once a time of sorrow is becoming a time of peace again.
I would so love to win this for my 2 daughters!
A time I have recently been brave is when my 3 year old was diagnosed with heart problems. It was really hard to sit through all of the testing but both of us were incredibly brave!
Hey Happy Early B’day! How gracious, and like you, to give to others in honor of your birth! We have so many born in November in our family ~ we kinda thought we had the market cornered, but we’re thrilled to include you in our *family*.
Thanks for all you do to make my days *smile*.
Still enjoying the *prints* I got from your photography cache! Still have that?
Hugs & Hope,
cj♥
I’m brave every time I step out the door…we never know what the Lord has in store for us, we just gotta keep having faith! Thanks for the chance to win…
I have a few times of bravery to choose from. But I will give the most recent- I’ve had to be brave enough to admit that the mental illness so prevalent in my Mom’s family did NOT skip me. I have to be brave and continue down this path to recovery and strength and teach my children how to cope with it as I learn to.
I was brave when at the age of 46 I graduated from Nursing school while going through a breakup of a 28 year marriage and still having 4 children at home.
Ooh Ooh! Pick me! I have a granddaughter that is living with us right now and she would LOVE this- (well, so would I) Thanks for all you do!
I would love to win this for my daughter. My daughter loves this movie, she was even Merida for Halloween.
Happy Birthday!
Bravery is something I would like more of. I don’t feel I have been the bravest of people, but dealing with my divorce and having to support myself to an increasing degree seems like it takes a certain extent of it.
saved my friend from a bunch of gangsters, surprised i got away with it
I was brave the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone and applied for a job. I’m extremely shy and wanted to spend my life in my bedroom with a good book and never leave so the thought of applying for a job and speaking with people I didn’t know was terrifying.
It’s been a rough year or more. I’ve had to be brave a ton with 3 kids with moderate to severe medical issues and a Hubby gone for 10 months with the military (8more to go). I’ve had several times I had to be brave to make it through another day, another hospital visit, another trying situation, to show my kids not to be afraid. But all my bravery doesn’t compare to my kids. They amaze and inspire me. They are the ones who have to battle the fear of medical procedures and tests, the fear of getting sick by coming into contact with food, of dealing with the stares and rude comments, of handling the pain that comes with their disease and health issues while just wanting to be a kid. Or feeling alone and friendless in this often scary world made worse when you’re different. They are the brave ones, they truly amaze me!
One of the times I was most brave was last year. My mother in law is a stoke victim and she started having seizures, about 20 in a span of 45 minutes. We thought that was it – she was seeing her mom in a field. I cannot describe it. She recovered after they figured out it was the medicine, but I had to be strong, be there and be positive for my husband (who’s an only child) and my girls. It’s hard as mother to watch your child see a grandparent that close to death and not waver in your emotion but keep reassuring them it will be fine. Also, as a mother, we are brave everyday for our kids. They have NO CLUE what is going on in the world.
i was scared but brave during the birth of my second child
I feel brave when I’m taking care of everyone.
Last year, I made the brave move of entering our town’s play of Beauty and the Beast because 1) I had a passion for acting and singing and 2) I LOVE Disney. So I auditioned for the part of Belle with nobody knowing. I was a week later I had won the part! When I told everyone – oh boy their reactions were unforgettable. No one but my sister knew I could act or let alone sing. Months later when we performed at our town’s theater, both my friends and family members came to watch. It was a brave move for me to audition and actually do the part because I’m a shy person and it’s not easy for someone like me to just go out and act or sing.
There are many times that life requires bravery to overcome it’s challenges. I have found that some of my bravest moments have come when I have chosen to follow the Lord’s inspiration despite the challenges that come with those decisions.
I was brave when I was able to stay calm during my mothers treatment in the hospital. I tries my best to remain calm during such a scary situation.
My daughter loved this movie and it’s on her Christmas wish list! I’d love to win it for her.
I got brave enough to start college again. I am now taking two classes. Five of my children have gone to college so far and all three of their spouses.
I have never seen this movie, but knowing you like it I am sure to enjoy it too. I love Girl power movies. Happy Birthday!
Many of us are brave with the challenges we face on a daily basis. Some challenges are visible while others are invisible. Some challenges require faith to help us be brave.
My bravest time was when I was pregnant with my 17 yr old son and was told I had cancer. My doctor told me he didn’t think I would be able to have the baby. My faith in my Heavenly Father helped me to be brave and to know that all would be well. And it was.
Over the last 2 years or so I have been brave daily as I make the difficult choices needed to keep them safe and help them heal from trauma.
Oh, I was supposed to talk about a time I was brave. Well, twice, three times, a year when I enter anything into a PPA level competition, knowing full well that my work will be going up against the best in the country and knowing full well my work doesn’t deserve to go up against the best in the country and I do it anyway so I can learn from it. It’s hard to put yourself out there.
looks like a great movie
I had to summon my courage to disagree with my sister (who has left the church bitterly), on an issue of morality.
I was called as a ward missionary to a Spanish speaking branch when I was a senior in high school. I was so scared but put on my brave face and was blessed as I served.
